Networks

Western Washington SCBWI is a huge and vibrant chapter. Extending from the Canadian border in the north to the Oregon border in the south and stretching from the Peninsula all the way east to the Cascades, our region and its members are spread far and wide. To help ensure everyone in our region has access to the SCBWI community, volunteers outside the Seattle Metro area organize and run a great deal of excellent programming through our Networks.

We always hope to see you at a monthly meeting, a KidLit Drink Night, or other event. But if it’s just too far to travel, check out our amazing Network happenings.

Eastside Network

The Western Washington SCBWI Eastside Network meets regularly at NoteWordies located near downtown Kirkland at 636 7th Ave. Events are always posted to the SCBWI WWA Facebook group. Space is limited, so we do ask you to RSVP to the Facebook event posting.

The Island Network

The Western Washington SCBWI Island Network (the IN crowd) meets monthly at the Greenbank Store Deli on the 2nd Tuesday at 2:00.

Those who are interested in being involved in the Island Network should join the “Whidbey Kidlit” Facebook page, and if you never want to miss an announcement from us, join our Google group:

Northern Network

The Western Washington SCBWI Northern Network meets the first Wednesday of each month, September through June, at 7:00 PM at the Bellingham Barnes & Noble (4099 Meridian St.) We get together to discuss the craft of writing and illustrating, share current projects, and generally have a good time supporting each other on our journey. Feel free to join us no matter where you are on the path to writing and/or illustrating for children.

Questions? Call Rebecca Van Slyke at (360) 354-5797, or email her at rebecca (underscore) vanslyke (at) hotmail (dot) com.

The Other Side – The Olympic Peninsula Network

The Western Washington SCBWI Olympic Peninsula Network meets the third Wednesday of the month at the Pourhouse (2231 Washington St, Port Townsend, WA https://ptpourhouse.com/home.html) walking distance from the Whidbey Island /PT ferry! The Pourhouse sells limited snacks, but if you are hungrier, they do allow you to bring in your own food.

Come schmooze, network, connect with other children’s book lovers, share ideas and inspiration. Wherever you are on your path, simply curious, pre-published or published, Writers and Illustrators all are welcome.

Please check your email and the SCBWI WWA website for updates, special events, talks and occasional date changes due to holidays etc.
