Keynote: We Are All Mysterious:  A Look at Suspense for Readers of All Ages with Katherine Ayres

What makes for good suspenseful writing? A close-up look at how to envision and then construct mysterious manuscripts for young children, young readers, young adults.  This presentation focuses on techniques for creating dark and stormy narratives for older kids, surprising and humorous ones for younger ones.  Together we will un-puzzle one of the more puzzling fictional genres.

Katherine Ayres is a lifelong teacher, working with all ages from toddlers to graduate students. She has published eleven books–three picture books, seven novels (including three mysteries) for children and teens, and one book of essays for adults. She lives and works in Pittsburgh PA and Stockbridge MA.
