Nonfiction Series Webinar

Wednesday, February 12, 2020, 7–8:30 PM PST

Kidlit Nonfiction: Biz Secrets Revealed!

Literary agent Lilly Ghahremani joins SCBWI WWA’s nonfiction coordinator, Lisa L. Owens, for a far-reaching Q&A–style conversation covering what no one tells you about the business of publishing children’s nonfiction. Ghahremani will spill the tea on:

— why it’s as much about the author as it is the book

— how to nail crucial elements of your nonfiction proposal (e.g., elevating your overview, choosing comp titles, presenting your work as a “must have” vs. a “nice to have”)

— the difference between a good book and one that finds a publishing home

— the importance of strategic submissions

— which rights to reserve

— and so much more!

Attendees will have the ability to ask questions via the webinar’s Q&A and chat functions during the event.

Please Note: Our booking system sends a confirmation email as soon as your registration is processed. Registration for this event closes February 11. All registrants will receive a link granting access to the webinar no later than the morning of February 12. A few days after the live event, registrants receive a new link allowing them to view the recorded webinar.

Lilly Ghahremani co-founded Full Circle Literary in 2004. Previously, she was a publishing attorney, and she jokes that she now uses her powers for good! She guides authors and illustrators to establish, strategize, and cultivate long-term careers doing what they love most. She is particularly interested in stories by underrepresented voices or projects that teach her something completely new.
